I think he's just holding on to the top of the boat, but it does look a lot like he's doing a big "Oooo 'ELLO SAILOR!"

    A hit! A well executed trouser, oozes confidence in choice of fabric and most importantly colour. A man who does not have time for any other mode of transport than a sea going vessel.
